Letters: Billy no-mates

Sorry to put a damper on things, but I played in Billy (Letters, 4 February), and John Barry's score was dreadful. Who can remember a single tune now? Also, it may have launched Michael Crawford's musical theatre career, but it came after Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and Crawford's Billy Liar was pure Frank Spencer. Hence it ran for 900 performances.

??Mention of the musical Billy calls to mind Don Black's lyrics for the show, including the deathless couplet "I'll hang my hat in ev'ry part of the atlas, / Most of the time I will be hopelessly hatless."
