Nike+ iPhone app adds multiplayer Nike+ Tag feature

Nike+, Nike's GPS-powered running tracker for iPhone, just got more fun. The latest update adds a multiplayer Nike+ Tag feature that lets you challenge multiple friends to a game of tag. You don't literally have to tag your opponents, though, you just have to avoid being "it" by running faster or farther than they do. Here's how it works:

After you finish a run, you can start a game of tag using the Nike+ App. Invites will be emailed to as many friends as you want.
Whoever starts the game decides whether you'll run for distance, time, or just try to avoid being the last to run. Whoever has the shortest time, the shortest distance, or runs last is "it."
The game last until each person runs, or for 3 days, whichever comes first. If you invite your friends and you're the only one who runs, the game just expires and you don't have to be "it."

Unfortunately, Tag won't work with the Nike+ iPod and shoe sensor combo. The Nike+ GPS iPhone app was apparently developed by a different team, and Tag hasn't crossed over yet. Still, it's great to see Nike continuing to add value to an already-useful $2 app. Just in time to keep up those new year's resolutions, too! Check out Nike's promo video for Nike+ Tag. It doesn't really explain the rules, but it makes the game sound like a lot of fun.
