This week's new clubs

The Recession Sessions, Glasgow

The obvious way to ride out the worst economic downtown in decades is with a spot of techno, as Distortion launch another instalment of their wallet-friendly series of nights featuring the cream of UK turntable titans. This month sees the Norfolk-based east London lad and pioneer of the British techno movement Mark Broom squeezing in a set between his numerous production and remixing commitments. Returning from a 1989 summer holiday in Tenerife with acid house rather than Agadoo reverberating in his brain, a set of decks were purchased and his career kicked off in 1992 when Baby Ford hired him as a DJ at his new club on the strength of a mixtape. Expect to hear a range of selections from Broom's recently released album, his first in 15 years, while Sewelly, former resident DJ and promoter of awesome Glasgow techno club Relentless, joins Distorted's own Doug and Andy on support duties.

Eurocultured, Manchester

After Will'n'Kate's shindig, this is one street party which even the most fervent republican can get stuck into. Now in its eighth year, Eurocultured features hundreds of DJs, bands and other performers from no less than 21 countries playing venues including Sound Control, Font Bar and Pure Space, plus an outdoor stage under Great Marlborough Street's railway arch. This hosts the likes of hip German tech house DJ Matthias Tanzmann, Austrian electro bod Dorian Concept, and Balkan Beat Box, an Israeli group who fuse eastern European music with electronica. Meanwhile, Europe's finest northern soul DJs congregate at the Palace Hotel.

Reggae All Dayer, Brighton

As the Concorde 2 itself succinctly puts it, what better way can there be to spend a lazy bank holiday Sunday afternoon than chilling in the garden with a few beers, barbecued food and some majorly good vibes? The club's reggae all dayer tomorrow offers precisely this well-proven leisure combination with a session hosted by one of the south coast's best established reggae crews Unity Hi Fi. They promise to lay on a soothing selection of top-quality classic and contemporary dub and roots, presented by the area's finest DJs, singers and MCs. On a packed bill, keep a particular ear out for the vocalists from Brighton's vintage ska and rocksteady specialists Hot Tip Hi Fi, spiritual vocals from Dubtician, a downtempo session from Brighton drum'n'bass DJ Kosine, and Arkital Sounds ? a dubwise and electronica duo comprising DJs Dialect and Lowki. Oh, and it's free entry all day. Irie all around.

The Promised Land ?, London

Or, to give this 15-hour party its proper mouthful of a title, The Promised Land Presents The Ultimate Summer Of Love Old Skool All Day BBQ & All Night Party. This Sunday's session has a 2pm start but, handily, considering the event's sheer length, they'll be feeding your stomach as well as your ears, with al fresco barbeque eats accompanied by N-Joi live in the garden. Celebrating the acid house years in all their Global Hypercolour-hued glory, there'll be PAs from the legendary CeCe Rogers and Chicago house star Robert Owens while the terrace is dedicated to funky house from the turn of the millennium until the present day. Members of the classes of 1988-1995 from a number of local secondary schools will be staging their official school reunions in the Egg's Apothecary, while a soundtrack of club classics from the same era plays out.

Eastern Electrics, London

If you're thinking of how best to herald the last of the current wave of bank holidays, then why not consider heading to the Great Suffolk Street Warehouse arches and raving until 7am on Monday? For the nine-to-fivers among us it'll be the last shot at such behaviour until August. As usual, the Eastern Electrics team will be delivering a lineup of such techno and electro greatness that it's clear why they only put on a few events every year. Mulletover will be in charge of Room 1, with DJ Koze, Clive Henry and Geddes making sure proceedings are appropriately rowdy. Meanwhile, Bloc will be coming together for their first outing since their Butlins weekender, bringing the bass to Room 2 with turns from James Holden, The Bug, Martyn and Lone. Deviation complete the bill, with Actress, Virgo Four and ? of course ? Benji B.
